These are words that one would associate with Hijab House. With its simplistic store design in the heart of mainstream shopping malls in Sydney, Australia, you’d be transported to a different kind of shopping experience.

Hijabi Facebook users worldwide will know the Hijab House brand like the back of their hands. From the pictures and comments on their Facebook page, we are all taken in and transported into the Hijab House world.

At the helm of Hijab House is Tarik Houchar. Started over a year ago, Hijab House opened it’s doors to the inaugural store in Bankstown’s Centro Mall. With the success of the first store, Hijab House Merrylands was opened; newer and bigger!

Let’s beat the heat!

Yes, the weather is terribly hot these few days but don’t let the weather be a factor to not to look fantabulous. Melting makeup, raccoon eyes and shiny faces are not pretty at all! In this hot weather, just remember that less is more! With these tips, I hope you will still look your best no matter how hot the weather can get.

  1. Make time for primer – You will not regret the few seconds it will take to smooth on a primer, which goes on after moisturizer but before foundation. It is incredibly light such that you do not feel there is a heavy additional layer at all! The best part, it can really hold makeup in place.
  2. A hint of tint – Just as you switch to lighter weight clothings, dress your face with lighter makeup too! Swap foundation for tinted moisturizer. These sheer formulas look and feel airy on the skin and are less likely to turn cakey on steamy days. If you feel a little too exposed, just pad on powder foundation over the tinted moisturizer in spots where you need a little extra coverage. Continue reading

How to avoid the 3 common foundation blunders

1. Using a shade that is too dark/ light

When choosing a foundation, you should always try to find a colour that is closest to your natural skin tone. The last thing you want is to look like a member of Ringo the Clown. So how do you choose a colour that is a close match to your skin?

The best place to test out a shade is along the jawline, not on your hand. as you will be applying foundation on your face not on your arm! The colour that visually disappears right into you skin is the best shade. Continue reading
